Privacy Policy
The Closer's Anchor ("the extension", "we") is a Chrome side-panel tool that transcribes the client's side of a Google Meet or Zoom call and suggests what the user should say next. This policy explains what data the extension handles and where it goes. The short version: audio and text go only to the AI provider you configure, using your own API key; we run no server of our own; the only service that sees your license key is Lemon Squeezy, which issued it; everything else stays in your browser.
1. Data the extension processes
- Call audio. When you press Start Listening (or use the keyboard shortcut / context-menu item), the extension captures the audio of the active Google Meet or Zoom tab. Audio is streamed in real time to the speech-to-text provider you selected and is not stored by the extension.
- Transcript text and suggested replies. Transcribed text is shown in the side panel and sent, together with the last few exchanges of the current call, to the AI provider you selected in order to generate a reply. Transcripts and replies are kept in your browser's extension storage (
chrome.storage.local) only if you click Save call, and can be exported by you as a JSON file. - API keys. The Google Gemini, OpenAI or Anthropic API key you enter is stored in
chrome.storage.localon your device and is sent only to that provider's API endpoint. - Settings. Provider, model, audio-source and display preferences, stored locally.
- License key and device id. When you activate, and about once a day afterwards, the extension sends your license key and a random device identifier (not tied to your Google account or hardware) to Lemon Squeezy's License API, so the key can be confirmed as valid and the number of computers it is active on counted (two allowed). Lemon Squeezy is the merchant of record for the purchase and stores your order and email under its own privacy policy; we never see your card or PayPal details.
- Tab URLs and titles. The extension reads the URL and title of your open tabs solely to detect whether a tab is a
meet.google.comorzoom.uscall and to label the session. It does not read page content and injects no scripts into web pages.
2. Where data is sent
Depending on the provider you choose in the extension's settings, audio and text are transmitted directly from your browser to:
- Google Gemini API —
generativelanguage.googleapis.com(Gemini API terms) - OpenAI API —
api.openai.com(optional) - Anthropic API —
api.anthropic.com(optional)
These providers process the data under their own terms and privacy policies, tied to your account with them. We do not operate any server that receives your audio, transcripts, keys or usage data, and we have no access to them.
3. Data we do not collect
Beyond the license record above, we do not collect payment details, browsing history, page content, analytics or telemetry through the extension. The dashboard is a page inside the extension. It reads the calls you saved and keeps its own settings in your browser only.
4. Consent and the people on your call
You are responsible for complying with the call-recording and consent laws that apply to you and to the people on your calls, and for telling participants that the call is being transcribed where the law requires it. The extension only captures audio while you have explicitly started listening; the side panel shows a green "Active" indicator whenever capture is running, and Stop Listening ends it immediately.
5. Retention and deletion
Saved calls remain in your browser until you delete them (Clear in the side panel, or remove the extension). Removing the extension deletes all of its stored data. Data held by your AI provider is governed by that provider's retention policy and your account settings with them.
6. Security
API keys and call data are stored using Chrome's extension storage on your device. Communication with AI providers uses HTTPS / secure WebSockets. Because the extension is client-side only, protecting the device and browser profile you use it on is the main safeguard for your data.
7. Children
The extension is a business tool intended for adults and is not directed at children under 16.
8. Changes
If this policy changes, the effective date above will be updated and the new version published at this address.
